Tiritiri’s Tartan Taonga

The 2017 Tiritiri Matangi Concert – 4th March

Catch the ferry to Tiritiri Matangi Island for an afternoon of wonderfully wild music in a stunning environment courtesy of OrigiNZ and Rob Thorne.

OrigiNZ is a 15 piece fusion band from Aotearoa New Zealand, featuring a wild array of instruments from Bagpipes (!) and percussion to trumpets and voice. They have taken traditional New Zealand and Celtic music and mixed it up into a sound that is loud, proud and unbowed. The result is a stunning mix of vocal and instrumental numbers that you will never forget.
Rob Thorne (Ngati Tumutumu) is a new and original voice in the evolving journey of taonga puoro (traditional Maori musical instruments). His sounds embrace the very essence of that fascinating and mysterious Polynesia where the endless sea joins the sky.

Bring a picnic (there is no food sold on the Island), come on the 9am ferry and stay for the whole day or arrive on the special concert ferry which will leave Auckland at 1pm and come via Gulf Harbour at 1:50pm arriving on Tiritiri at 2:20pm.

The concert runs from 4:00 to 6:30pm so there’s plenty of time for a walk with the birds and a swim beforehand.

Spend up at our almost world-famous gift shop where all profits come back to supporting our conservation and education programmes.

The evening ferry leaves at 7:15pm to Gulf Harbour ONLY and at 8pm to Downtown Auckland ONLY.

Bookings open 15th Feb: 360 Discovery Phone 09 307 8005 or website.

If you would like to book early please phone or email Mary-Ann: shop@tiritirimatangi.org.nz 09 476 0010 Wednesday to Sunday.

Cost –Auckland $95 and Gulf Harbour $80 this includes the ferry and concert.
